A christening gown or layette designed by Lillian's Heirlooms is truly where generations of memories begin.
Lillian's Heirlooms features one-of-a-kind, handmade christening gowns and layettes that are made from fine Belgian linen, Swiss cotton batiste, cotton lawn and silk dupionni fabrics. Intricate details are the standard for her gowns and she offers a variety of time-honored heirloom sewing techniques. Silk ribbon and hand embroidery embellish many of her designs. Each christening gown is designed and sewn by Lillian herself. She is careful that the christening gown you purchase is the only one just like it, so no two are ever exactly alike. Imagine your baby in a gown you purchase from Lillian. Your family will own an original design and your investment in your family's traditions will last for generations to come.
Layettes are also designed and sewn by Lillian. They are made from the same fine fabrics, laces, and ribbons as the christening gowns, but some designs are repeated. Layettes always include a short gown, diaper cover, and bonnet. Some include bibs, booties, and blankets or coverlets. Items may be purchased as a set or individually.
Do you have a family christening gown that is too fragile or small to use? Lillian specializes in reproducing vintage baby wear and restyling wedding gowns into christening gowns. Lillian can make a replica using the same type of fabric, embroidery and similar laces as the vintage item. Many customers mount the precious vintage item in a shadow box and use the reproduced item to continue the family tradition.
